Barista Training Program: Tea 101
Virtual class hosted via zoom
11/8 to 12/13 (6 weeks)
4:00 - 5:00 PM EST
Unicorn Children’s Foundation is partnering with Firedancer Coffee Consultants to offer industry certification courses for individuals with special needs interested in learning about and working within the coffee industry, or perhaps own their own business. Tea 101 will provide attendees with a strong understanding of the three basic tea types (green, black, herbal) and the two traditional styles of orthodox tea production used to create them. Topics will also include the essential components of teas, where and how teas are grown. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste representative samples of each of the three tea types, discuss tea steeping methods, and examine the basic characteristics of different teas. An activity kit will be sent to each participant with samples of bagged tea along with brewing instructions.
This class is intended for adults or older teens. Individuals who have difficulties reading, writing, or retaining new vocabulary and technical information are encouraged to attend with a "coach" for support.
**The value of this class is $200 per session but is being offered at a discounted rate due to a grant awarded by the Autism License Plate Fund and the Autism Services Grant Council.
