The Unicorn Children’s Foundation Record Breaking Pledging Luncheon (Nov. 29, 2006)
The Unicorn Children’s Foundation recently hosted their annual pledging luncheon at the beautiful Café Boulud at The Brazilian Court, Palm Beach. Fifty friends and supporters were warmly welcomed by Gala Chairpersons Karen Swanson, Teri Wolofsky, and Grand Dame Jeannette Stark. Guests enthusiastically raised over $375.000 towards UCF’s million plus goal in support of its annual gala, “Une Soirée d’Elégance”. This special event will be held at Palm Beach's most legendary private club, February 11 2007.
Luncheon attendees included Unicorn president Juliette Ezagui, Valeria Rosenbloom, Patty Myura, Barbara Gilbert, Susan Peacock, Michael Rosenthal, Elisabeth Dalfen, Debora Hartman, Carol Matwiczyk, Madeline and Herbert Hillsberg, Judi Donoff, Brian Gavin, Elsa Higgenbotham, Valerie Austin, Louise Stahly, Jean Dolan, Emily Damiano, Tammie Clark, Mary Lynn Bartolomeo, Jaqueline Abel, Cindy Gordon, Gilka Kay, Linda Zettel, Kathryn Monk, Lana Pugliese, Tammie Clark, Yvonne Eldridge, were just some of the elegantly clad ladies.
Sharon Alexander Unicorn’s Director of Programs gave a brief talk about Unicorn’s mission to affect worldwide change among professionals, parents, and policy makers, so that every child with any communication or learning disorder is given the greatest opportunity to reach his or her potential.
Sharon received a hearty round of applause as she had just returned from Washington DC, where Unicorn’s founder Dr. Mark Rosenbloom was recognized by the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders at their tenth International conference for all the support shown them by The Unicorn Children’s Foundation.
Sharon introduced the guest speaker Dora Casonova who spoke movingly of her three children two of whom have autism, her touching speech certainly encouraged those assembled to pledge.
Grand Benefactor Valeria Rosenbloom commenced the pledging with a donation of $100.000. Gary Koenig of Whiteflash.com famed jeweler to European Royalty, and many celebrities, wowed the guests with his generous donation of an $80.000 stunning, unique necklace and earring set. Mercedes-Benz of Palm Beach have generously donated a beautiful car for the auction, so Gala Chairs are certain that “’Une Soirée d’Elegance” will like every year be an early sellout.
