Creative Workforce Solutions Conference: Meet Lisa Friedman-Chavez of Project 10: Transition Education Network
A virtual conference to promote special needs focused entrepreneurship and social enterprises.
Lisa Friedman-Chavez is the Project 10 Regional Transition Representative for South Florida. She provides training and technical assistance to 12 school districts and relevant stakeholders in the area of secondary transition, including school-based enterprise. She has worked in the fields of social services and education, with a focus on supporting individuals with disabilities, for more than 23 years. Prior to working with Project 10, Lisa worked on several grants at the University of South Florida, including the Partners in Transition Training and Technical Assistance Project, the Students Website on Employment and Transition, and the Start-up Florida Project. Ms. Friedman-Chavez also coordinated the Supported Employment and Supported Living programs for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities office serving Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
What will I learn during this presentation?
This session will provide supporting research and activities for planning and implementing a School-Based Enterprise. Participants will be able to define what a school-based enterprise is; brainstorm possible concepts by type of SBE; describe skills students learn during an SBE experience and methods for evaluating these skills; and discuss levels of student involvement in an SBE.
