What will I learn during this presentation?
Vocational assessment is a tool that may inform a person's employment planning and journey. It is designed to clarify an individual’s current and future vocational potential, including employment-related strengths and limitations (THHS, 2020). For persons with disabilities, vocational assessment can be a critical foundation in promoting employment matches that are well-aligned to an individual's strengths, conditions for success market, and labor market (Powers, 2013; Weed & Field, 2012). This presentation reviews the levels of assessment, as well as alternatives to assessment, that may help individuals with disabilities optimize career options (e.g., traditional, self-employment, customized employment) and successful outcomes.
