On May 17, 2017, from midnight to midnight, Unicorn Children's Foundation is participating in the Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties, a 24-hour online giving event led by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, United Way of Palm Beach County and United Way of Martin County. The 24-hour online fundraising event was designed to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in a single day. Collectively, since inception in 2014, the Great Give has raised more than $8 million for over 500 nonprofits serving essentially every need in Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
This community-wide event celebrates the spirit of giving and the collective effort it takes to strengthen our community while raising critical funds for hundreds of local nonprofits serving every need. Plus, each donation made during the 24-hour period will be amplified by bonus pool dollars and hourly prizes!
Your donation will go a long way in helping us build communities of support, acceptance, and opportunity for individuals and families challenged by neurodiversity. Unicorn Children’s Foundation will be participating in the GREAT GIVE on May 17. With 1 of every 6 children affected by some form of neurodiversity, we need your help to create programs and services us that will inspire, engage, include and empower children who think, communicate, and learn differently.
Unicorn Children's Foundation has allocated over $3,100,000 in funding on initiatives that will allow each individual with neurodiversity to lead fulfilled and productive lives, including:
Community Conversations - regular convening of representatives from the public and private sector who have an interest in special needs services and supports to encourage cooperation, collaboration and coordination of efforts to create a comprehensive continuum of care.
Creating Compassionate Children Campaign™ - Distribution of a character development curriculum designed to help students create a culture of understanding, acceptance, inclusion, and respect by encouraging meaningful change in preschool and elementary school classrooms. In doing so, we can foster caring peer support and eliminate bullying.
Early Start Denver Model Parent Training Scholarship - Managing a scholarship fund to help parents implement the teaching of crucial developmental skills in a child’s everyday routines.
Unicorn Village Academy Scholarship Fund - Managing a scholarship fund to help students develop a passionate interest in an area where they can find success upon completion of high school at the Unicorn Village Academy, a community based life-skills, academic, and career academy for neurodiverse youth.
Incubator of not-for-profit special needs programs - Establishing a collaborative fund that will be supported by like-minded funders to provide financial and administrative assistance to innovative and emerging programs that address the gaps identified through community needs assessments and conversations.
