Fall Holiday Craft Project

Unicorn Children’s Foundation is offering fun and engaging holiday workshops for individuals with special needs, their families, and friends. ​In this workshop, participants will follow the guidance of an instructor to make a Thankful Leaf Stone.  The focus and purpose for this activity is to encourage participants to express their gratitude using the senses sight (colors) and touch (texture of the objects involved) as symbolism for their emotional inner being. Cost for supplies is included in the class price.  Supplies kits will be mailed to each participant prior to the class.  Materials will include:  styrofoam square board, craft adhesive, Mod Podge, artificial autumn Leaves, acrylic paint, sequins, and paint brushes.

Roundtable for Families: Coping During The Holidays

Everyone knows that the holidays can be a hard and challenging time (even under normal circumstances). With the upcoming holiday season just around the corner and it being like nothing we have experienced before, we are bound to feel stressed, exhausted, anxious, worried, frustrated, heartbroken and disconnected from each other. In this roundtable discussion, we talk about how to healthily deal with these feelings. We discuss healthy coping skills, how to set boundaries, self-care skills and most importantly how to love yourself and others through this holiday season.

Roundtable Discussion for Men

This roundtable is intended to be a safe space where men can come together and support each other in a kind, caring and non-judgement based environment. During these roundtables, we talk about what it's like to be a man today and what is going on in our lives. We also spend time learning healthy coping skills for the issues we are facing and how to better take care of ourselves. All men are welcome.

​Sustainable Holiday Gifts

​Unicorn Children’s Foundation is partnering with aZul For Better Living, Inc. to offer a a three session DIY holiday gifting class for adults with special needs and their caregivers.  This class gives participants an opportunity to get creative with hands on projects while interacting with others virtually.  Sign up and learn how to make fabric coasters, embellish cloth napkins and create an arttree textile piece.  Your friends and family will be happy to receive gifts made by you!

Winter Holiday Craft Project

Unicorn Children’s Foundation is offering fun and engaging holiday workshops for individuals with special needs, their families, and friends. In this workshop, participants will follow the guidance of an instructor to make a Jingle Bell Ornament.  The focus and purpose for this activity is to encourage participants to encourage participant to be creative using the senses of sound, sight, and touch to decorate an ornament during the winter holiday season. Cost for supplies is included in the class price.  Supplies kits will be mailed to each participant prior to the class.  Materials will include:  clear fillable ornament, acrylic paint, miniature jingle bells, small pom pom balls, decorative ribbon, paint brushes, and Elmers adhesive spray.

Slow Flow Yoga

Please join Ms. Dana of Libration Yoga (RYT-200) for slow flow yoga. We will explore mindful movement of body and breath and the many benefits yoga offers. The practice will include a warm up sequence, a slow flow series and an integrative session. Discover how you can calm the mind, open the heart and soothe the soul with yoga.

Cake Decorating

Participants will learn the basics of cake decorating in 6 one hour classes. Each class, the participant will bring a one layer frosted cake or (cupcakes on the day we do cupcakes) and enough colored icing to decorate the cake. We will use the class time to practice the techniques and to decorate the cake or cupcakes. Participants are encouraged to practice the technique at home.

Unicorn Children’s Foundation is partnering with GibCONNECT to offer a innovative and interactive cooking class.  We’ve compiled a mixture of fun, inspired activities and recipes that begin and end in the Creative Kitchen. Discover that there’s more than just food cooking in the kitchen. Each week we will invite a special guest to learn how they get creative in the kitchen.

​​Unicorn Children’s Foundation is partnering with Mind&Melody, Inc. to offer interactive music classes for individuals of all ages and support needs. Learn to make a song from scratch! Don’t know how to sing or play an instrument? Don’t worry, Mr. Eric will guide you through the process and teach you how to produce your own song. You’ll learn the basic concepts of song structure, how to make a beat, how to develop your own lyrics, and by the end of the 6 week class you’ll have a song to share with your family and friends. Learn a new skill that will help you express yourself through music!

​Music with Ms. Rachel

Unicorn’s Children Foundation is partnering with Songs of Life Music Therapy, LLC to offer adaptive music lessons! Join Ms. Rachel, a board certified music therapist, for interactive weekly groups, individualized to meet the goals of individuals with diverse needs. Each class will focus on a specific musical theme, such as songwriting, instrument playing, singing, world music, and more!

Job Club for Job Advancement​

Supports for Job Advancement –  The Job Club for Job Advancement is for young adults who have a job but need support in either maintaining the job or would like to advance in the company.  Meetings will be open discussions on specific topics such as developing friendships at work, skills to keep the job, self-advocacy at work, and applying for a promotion.

Create your own soaps using fragrant ingredients and molds. This workshop is a fun and social way to make gifts or products to sell while spending time with friends and family! Participants will be given a supplies list in order to purchase items needed for class.

Learn to Apply Makeup

​Taking Care of Your Pup

​Introduction to Coffee (Part 1 of Barista Training Program)

​Unicorn Children’s Foundation is partnering with the Specialty Coffee Association to offer industry certification courses for individuals with special needs interested in learning about and working within the coffee industry, or perhaps own their own business.  Participants in the Introduction to Coffee will learn fundamental skills needed to work as a Barista. From growing the cherries through grading, roasting, and brewing, this module provides an overview of the coffee value chain.  The course also gives an overview of customer service within the coffee retail industry, giving students the tools needed for employment within a coffee retail environment. Participants who have completed the course and pass a an exam will receive a certificate of completion from the Specialty Coffee Association.
Cost: ​$500.00

Create your own candle using granulated wax in beautiful florescent colors. Learn wick placement and layer your wax and fragrance in your own unique design.  This workshop is a fun and social way to make gifts or products to sell while spending time with friends and family! All supplies needed for the class are included and will be mailed to each participant.

​Mindfulness

​Unicorn Foundation is offering “Facing Life’s Challenges with More Self-Compassion” an introduction course to mindfulness practices to help improve personal well-being of caretakers of loved ones with disabilities and for young adults with disabilities.  The course consists of 4 classes and will introduce the mindfulness practices of sitting meditation, body scan meditation, loving-kindness meditation, and using movement as a stress reducer. During this course participants will learn how mindfulness can help in reducing stress, improve resilience, and gain more attentiveness to the present moment.     
Cost: ​$75.00
