The Fabulous You a Successful Event for the Unicorn (December 16, 2008)
Boca Raton, FL – December 16, 2008 – The “buzz” among the Mar-a-Lago staff, about the transformation of the elite venue into a chic nightclub atmosphere, led to an appearance by Mr. Donald J. Trump, whose wife Melania served as honorary chair of The Fabulous You. The fundraising event, benefiting the Unicorn Children’s Foundation, was held December 5, 2008 in Palm Beach. The evening was presented by Smart for Life™.
Event chairs Joanne Gabay and Renata Moulavi welcomed Unicorn patrons and friends to the Grand Ballroom and pool area for an unforgettable evening. “The event was a departure from the world-renowned Galas the organization is so well known for, but was very well received,” reported Mrs. Moulavi. “Patrons raved for days afterward about the great season-opening party at Palm Beach’s premier venue.”
The evening featured a high-energy fashion show that enthralled both the ladies and the gentlemen in attendance. Gorgeous models attired in lingerie from Katie’s Place and Delicates, and swimwear by Ed Hardy and Cia Maritima, paraded down the runway accessorized elegantly with diamonds by Rosenberg Diamonds and Co. The ladies enjoyed the male models in their swimwear and their fashions by international design house of Bogosse. Stunning cocktail dresses and evening gowns by Fiandaca, Pamella Roland, Brian Reyes, and Ines Di Santo closed the show, again accessorized with a dazzling display of diamond jewelry by David Rosenberg of Rosenberg Diamonds & Company.
Master of Ceremony Neil Myers, an internationally known travel writer, served as auctioneer for the live auction, encouraging bids on a “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” weekend courtesy of Blue Star Jets, Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort, and the Auto Toy Store, a diamond bracelet from Rosenberg Diamonds & Co., and a 5-day “California Dreamin” trip to Napa Valley provided by Southern Wine & Spirits. Emceeing with Mr. Myer for the evening was our own Paige Kornblue, reporter and anchor at WPTV News Channel 5 in West Palm Beach.
Recognized that evening during the intermission of the fashion show were three well-deserving recipients of The Unicorn Children’s Foundation annual awards. David and Juliette Ezagui were honored as Grand Ambassadors for their selfless time and energies expended on behalf of the foundation. Mrs. Ezagui serves as Co-President of the Unicorn Children’s Foundation, and fills an important role in the charity’s programs and fundraising. The Founder’s Award was presented to the Ziegfeld Girls of Florida for their generous contributions to the organization. “These lovely ladies have become avid supporters of the Unicorn and its initiatives, said Mrs. Gabay. The final award recipient, the Honorable Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, was selected as the Unicorn’s Shining Star for his signing into law the 2008 Florida legislation madating health insurance coverage for treatment of autism.
Brazilian dancers then led guests from the Grand Ballroom for even more entertainment poolside. It was a fabulous South Florida evening under the stars with dancing, desserts, lounging on plush white sofas and being entertained by the DJ and mermaids swimming in the pool. Guests also had an opportunity to win a 2009 Aston Martin, courtesy of Palm Beach Motor Cars, and enjoyed roulette, craps and blackjack.
