Breaking through Barriers

Unicorn Children's Foundation offers programs to individuals around the world, eliminating geographic barriers, expanding social networks, and exposing individuals with developmental or learning challenges ​to educational opportunities that they would not otherwise have available.​  We are proud to serve communities across the US and beyond!  

Our programs are largely designed for individuals with developmental and learning differences ​but open to the community at large!

Job Skills
​​Virtual class hosted via zoom

February 6 to April 10
​​​​​Mondays (10 classes)
4:15-5:15 PM EST
Do you have a job? Do you want a job and are curious about real life situations that occur at jobs? This class supports participants to strengthen their soft skills (problem solving, time management, social interactions etc.,) while building a community with other individuals who are experiencing similar work-based situations. Through group conversations, role play and acting; participants will explore given and personal situations to problem solve and strengthen ability to be a great employee.

Zumba

Unicorn Children's Foundation is partnering with JMSaunders Services to offer a dance class to the beats of hip hop, Salsa, belly dancing and more. Learn about dances from different countries and cultures. Every session is a new and exciting dance experience. Featured artists include Lizzo, Jonas Brothers, Luke Bryan and Nicky Jam!! All abilities and ages are encouraged to join the dance party--all you need is a water and a smile!

Dating & Relationships

Unicorn Children's Foundation is partnering with Neuro Consulting Solutions to provide participants with the knowledge and tools to develop healthy friendships that may even lead to romantic relationships. During this 10-week session, you will learn and practice important social skills that will help you better understand and navigate these relationships. 

Living Mindfully
​​​Virtual class hosted via zoom

February 7 to April 11
​​​​​Tuesdays (10 classes)
5:45-6:45 PM EST

This class supports mindfulness for both the beginner and the experienced. This class will explore techniques that build an individual’s ability to self-regulate and utilize calming strategies in daily life, work and relationships. First, calming strategies will be introduced and practiced. Then supported discussions on how to utilize strategies in real life settings will take place. Strategies include meditation, pranayama (breathing), mindful eating, using the arts (drawing and acting) and yoga. Participants will gain knowledge on mindfulness practices that can help bring calm throughout their day

Personal Finance

February 7 to April 11
​​​​​Tuesdays (10 classes)
7:00-8:00 PM EST


This 10-week series will help participants gain important personal finance skills. This class will be hands-on and introduce some general topics like saving money, creating a budget, understanding credit, and protecting your money. Participants will feel empowered and confident while developing skills that will help them to make good decisions around spending and saving money. ​

Disney Decades Club

In 2023, the Walt Disney Company and everything it stands for will celebrate its 100th anniversary, so what better way to celebrate than to learn the whole story in ten decades than with this exciting new class?  This class will be taught by Jeff Snyder, Autism/Neurodiversity Self-Advocate and bonafide Disney expert, so get your mouse ears and get ready to dive deep into 100 years of not just a company, but a cultural phenomenon!

Connection Club

​​​​Wednesdays (10 classes)
5:30-6:30 PM EST
Come hang out and socialize in “Connection Club” where we will make new friends! We will learn about other social clubs in the community that have both virtual and in person connection opportunities. We will discuss relationships and ways to connect with people we may want to grow a relationship with by sharing different options such as special Speed Dating groups in the community for people with unique abilities, dating apps, and community options for all abilities. We will watch movies, share our favorite recipes, and favorite animals or pets. Participants will have tons of fun while connecting by sharing in a variety of ways and different topics.

Self-Advocacy

February 8 to April 12
​​​​​​Wednesdays (10 classes)
6:45-7:45 PM EST


Self-Advocacy is about understanding yourself, your preferences, and interest and being able to speak up for yourself with friends, in community, and in employment. This course will teach you different skills to connect to yourself through breathing techniques and journaling that help you to find your voice. This class will also talk about how participants can make choices and clearly communicate in the workplace, with friends, and family. At the end of the session, you will have different tools you can use to feel confident.

Life Skills

​Do you have what it takes to transition into the world of Adulthood? Do you enjoy having the freedom to make certain choices in your life? Learning to take care of responsibilities like creating a grocery shopping list/shopping, doing your own laundry, making and keeping track of doctors’ appointments and social appointments with friends can bring you lots of freedom and independence in your life. Come join us we have fun learning about “Adulting”!

Spanish Club

Have you ever wanted to learn a foreign language but found traditional classes challenging or boring? Join us for Spanish Club—a fun interactive way to learn Spanish through activities such as music, games, and fun activities. This class is intended for ages 10+.

Around the World

February 10 to April 14
​​​​​Fridays (10 classes)

4:30-5:30 PM EST​

Our Around the World course is a live online interactive course designed for students interested in immersing themselves with different countries around the world (China, India, Mexico, France, Russia, and Australia). Throughout the course, students will learn the geography, culture, foods, languages, holidays, government, education system, and unique traditions at these locations. Class content and pacing are tailored to the interests of the students and our student-to-student collaboration will foster deeper learning and engagement through Kahoot Games, educational worksheets, coloring pages, and virtual tours! This class is intended for ages 10+.
