Unicorn Children’s Foundation Crowns Many Champions
at Pongfest & Unicorn Derby (September 19, 2012)

Boca Raton FL – September 19, 2012 – There were many champions at Unicorn Children’s Foundation’s Inaugural Pongfest & Unicorn Derby, but the real winners will be the special needs high school students in South Florida.  The event, held on August 28, 2012 at Bogart’s Bar & Grille in Boca Raton, raised over $3,500 to support the opening of Unicorn Village Academy.
Rapoport’s Restaurant Group, Sunshine State Health Plan and the Palm Beach Table Tennis Club invite you to engage your competitive spirit by participating in Pongfest & Unicorn Derby 2012 at on Tuesday, from 6-9pm.
Approximately 150 people are anticipated to participate in the Inaugural Pongfest & Unicorn Derby.  The main events include a recreational table tennis tournament and Unicorn races.  Pongfest offers 3 levels of competition for singles or doubles.  The Unicorn Derby allows participants to own their own Unicorn and participate in our races.
This event is open to anyone who would like to support the cause – no mad ping pong or jockeying skills are required.  Proceeds from this event will support the creation of Unicorn Village Academy, an innovative high school in Boca Raton for special needs students.  This high school will allow students ages 14-21 to discover and explore their own interests, pursue their own goals, and prepare them for transition to work, college, and full participation in the communities in which they live
Sharon Alexander, Unicorn’s Executive Director explains, “This event is the merging of two basic ideas: the conviction that we need to help those with special needs, and the insight that we can have a great time while doing it!”
Who will walk away with the coveted Championship titles at Pongfest & Unicorn Derby 2012?  Individual Pong Entry is $40 per person; Doubles Tournament Entry is $75 per team; become the proud owner of your own Unicorn at $100; spectators may join at $25 per person.  All participants will receive 2 complimentary cocktails and sumptuous hors d’oeuvres.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.UnicornChildrensFoundation.org/pongfest .
Pongfest & Unicorn Derby 2012 is part of Boca Festival Days (a series of fun-filled events held at different locations during the month of August) and is facilitated by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.
