Unicorn’s 10th Anniversary Gala was a Feast for the Senses (March 11, 2008)
Boca Raton, FL – March 11, 2008 – The Unicorn Children’s Foundation (UCF) 10th Anniversary Gala, Key to the Golden Palace, was a smashing success and surpassed its $1,000,000 goal during a spectacular evening under the stars at the legendary Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida on March 7th. Mr. Donald J. Trump, Grand Honorary Host and recipient of The Unicorn Children's Foundation Shining Star Award, welcomed guests and noted to the rapt audience that “having the Unicorn Children’s Foundation here for so many years has been our honor.” Unicorn events have drawn international interest and notoriety as “can’t miss” events. “We are so appreciative of more than 500 individuals who attended and participated in the silent and live auctions as well as our sponsors UBS Private Bank, Shelley Resnick, Yocha & Aviva Schneider, and Hershel & Christine Victor for their support” said Laura Moore, the 2008 Gala Chair. Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago was transformed into an exotic oasis with belly dancers, live camels, and Moroccan tents. To add further glitz to the already glamorous event, in attendance was internationally renowned singer, songwriter, and actor Pat Boone. Six year old prodigy Ethan Bortnick entertained the audience with classical and personal compositions, as well as with his wit and the winner of France’s version of American Idol, Jeremie Meslati, had the ladies swooning as he performed Hello by Lionel Richie. The famous Ziegfeld Girls of Florida wowed the crowd not only with their beauty but also with their generosity – an unexpected and most spectacular $100,000 donation to the foundation. Mike and Valeria Rosenbloom were honored as The Unicorn Children's Foundation Grand Ambassadors for their longstanding generosity and leadership to the foundation and local estate attorney Larry F. Witte was presented with The Unicorn Children's Foundation Founders Award for his significant contribution to the growth and development of the foundation. Master of Ceremony Jesse Dylan, a talk show host on Sirius Radio, conducted the live auction which included: a 1963 Silver Cloud III Rolls Royce previously owned by screen star Rex Harrison; a stunning South Sea Pearl Necklace from Ellagem; a luxurious vacation in Cabo San Lucas; an elegant Diamond Necklace from Rosenberg Diamonds & Co.; a ride on the Spirit of Innovation Goodyear Blimp; and a One-Day Space Launch Experience from NASTAR. Gala attendees also placed bids on more than 100 Silent Auction packages during the evening that included items ranging from fine art to stunning couture ball gowns, from luxurious travel packages including a trip around the world to striking one-of-a-kind jewelry creations for men and women. Proceeds will benefit the Unicorn Children’s Foundation, an international organization dedicated to education, research and awareness initiatives on behalf of children affected by learning and communication challenges, such as autism, Aspergers, ADHD, dyslexia, and other general learning disorders.
