Nearly one of every five children is affected by some form of developmental, learning, or communication disorder, including but not limited to attention deficit disorder, Asperger, autism, bipolar and dyslexia. This represents a significant impact on the educational institutions serving these children, as well as on their families and communities. Unicorn Children's Foundation's executive director, Sharon Alexander, says, "These ever-increasing numbers show the need for us to educate parents on available resources to assist children in reaching their full potential. The time is right to reach out to families with a resource fair." The resource fair will feature family-friendly exhibitors, providing information on community resources such as: after school programs, tutoring and therapy centers, college planning, insurance and healthcare. There will be hands-on activities, games and music as well as food and drinks. Parents can attend strategy sessions presented by local specialists, throughout the day. Complimentary developmental screenings will be conducted on the Unicorn-funded Community Mobile Screening Clinic. Admission to "Passport to a Successful School Year" is free. Parking is also free. The event will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Pavilion Grille is located inside the Stonegate Bank Building atrium at 301 Yamato Road, Boca Raton.
