Madeline Hillsberg |
Madeline Hillsberg was born in St. Joseph, Missouri where she started doing charity work at age 12 with the Hadassah Buds, and has remained committed to helping others. She taught public school classes in the primary section after graduating from Missouri University during World War II. She met her husband, Herbert, who was stationed in St. Joseph in the Army Air Transport division. After the war, they settled in Brooklyn, New York and then in Lake Success, New York, where she became very involved in Women's American ORT, serving officers from Hospitality Chairman to President. She chaired luncheons at the Plaza, American and Waldorf Astoria Hotels where there were over 1,000 people. They live in Bal Harbour and are Florida residents, and are involved in many local charities. They were honored ath the "Night on the Orient Express" evening. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. She is very proud and honored to be serving on the Unicorn Children's Foundation Board.
